Who knew mermaids were so popular? I didn't, but soon realized how many people LOVE mermaids. I found this unfinished sculpture in a warehouse and to my surprise I was able to bring it home.
It needed some repair work after sitting in storage for so long. So I took care of that, and then coated the whole thing with Styrospray 1000 for a tough hard shell that's weather resistant.
I painted her skin tone and then used a highly reflective gold paint to simulate gold leaf for the hair. The tail is covered with window solar film glued in place with clear UV-resistant epoxy resin. I used the same technique to attach the rhinestones for the bra and jewelry.
The base was painted with stone texture paint, and I epoxied everything twice to make shine in the sun.
